Alginate Dressing is a sterilized wound dressing containing alginate fibers derived from seaweed. This advanced wound dressing is designed to absorb significant amounts of wound exudates and transform into a gel-like covering over the affected area.

Working Mechanism:

When in contact with wound exudates, the calcium ions within the alginate fibers exchange with sodium ions present in the fluid. During this ion-exchange process, the dressing absorbs large volumes of exudates and becomes gelatinous, providing a protective barrier.

Indications for Use:

Alginate Dressing can absorb up to 12 times its weight in fluid. It is ideally suited for moderately to heavily exuding wounds including:

• Venous and arterial leg ulcers;
• Diabetic ulcers and pressure ulcers;
• Donor sites, abrasions, lacerations, and post-surgical wounds.
